Red wine produced on the eastern side of Etna, from native vines Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, grown as a tree between San Giovanni Montebello and Sant'Alfio, right near a legendary tree: the largest and oldest chestnut in Europe, known as "one hundred horses". It is a volcanic wine, surprising and always different: the little condensed and always variable tannins, for intensity and character, make the Nerello dei Cento Cavalli a wine difficult to "harness" in the conventional patterns to which one is accustomed, characterized, in fact, by an unexpected freshness and intense notes of undergrowth.
