Wines Red Gattinara
Gattinara wine is a Piedmontese red wine of controlled and guaranteed origin obtained from the Nebbiolo grape, locally known as Spanna.
Unlike other denominations such as dolcetto d'alba and barbera d'asti, more famous and with very large production areas, Gattinara is a wine produced only in the municipality of Gattinara in the province of Vercelli.
Like all wines from Nebbiolo grapes, Gattinara is also recognized for its intense garnet color, for the fine scent of rose, violet and red fruits and above all for its broad structure, accompanied by an innate elegance. If for the Gattinara the disciplinary provides for 24 months of aging in Slavonian oak barrels, for the Gattinara Riserva at least 35 months of aging in wood are required. This makes Gattinara one of the great Italian wines for aging, and gives it a longevity comparable to that of Brunello and Barolo.
