Wines White Côte de Beaune

In the Côte de Beaune are produced both white wines, Chardonnay and red wines, from Pinot Noir grapes. The area is however famous for its white wines and it is from the Coôte de Beaune that the best Chardonnays of Burgundy originate. The area is home to the famous Grand Cru of Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenue-Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet. Also the red wines of the Côte de Beaune are of high quality - in particular those of Corton - however considered less valuable than those of the Côte de Nuits. Compared to the red wines of the Côte de Nuits, those of the Côte de Beaune are characterized by a greater softness and more "immediate" organoleptic qualities. Among the most famous areas of the Côte de Beaune where red wines are produced are Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Volnay and Pommard. The whites of the Côte de Beaune are characterized by a surprising organoleptic richness and structure, with aromas that often recall honey, hazelnut, vanilla and - sometimes - truffle.
